Do you know where, according to Winston Churchill, the best climate is? And where, according to our observations, can some of the most beautiful beaches be found? We won’t keep you in suspense for long. Meet El Alamein — the favorite resort of the Egyptian elite and the city that changed the course of World War II on the continent.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A TRIP TO EL ALAMEIN

We suspect that what interests you most right now is what makes Alamein so captivating — for both us and Churchill. To answer this, we turn to our colleague, who became a true ambassador of the destination from her very first trip and is already counting down the days until her next visit to this gem.

Alamein is a completely different Egypt. So, get ready to be amazed by such a Rediscover experience. The majority of holidaymakers here are affluent Egyptians or their children. Many own property in the area, and the resort itself offers all the necessary infrastructure for leisure and entertainment: a waterfront lined with restaurants and shops, beach bars, and shopping malls featuring both international and local brands. So, there’s always something to do beyond the hotel.

Does it remind you of anything? Yes, the vibe is somewhat similar to the Emirates, yet this is still Egypt. Once again, in Alamein, Egypt revealed a new side of itself to me — one I hadn’t seen before.

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT EL ALAMEIN

Capture a photo at one of the world’s most stunning beaches

El Alamein is all about powder-white shores (even Dubai’s top resorts imported sand from here for their beaches) and a mesmerizing turquoise sea. I can’t stop repeating how this combination captivates, enchants, and shatters expectations. No filters or edits are needed — your photos will be breathtaking as they are. So, make sure you have enough storage space on your phone.

And by the way, while the Mediterranean here may not have the vibrant coral reefs of the Red Sea, you can still spot turtles, dolphins, and hundreds of colorful fish — sometimes even from the water's surface!

Explore Historic Cities

Cairo. Have you always dreamed of visiting Cairo but found it too expensive or time-consuming from Red Sea resorts? From Alamein, Cairo is just over 200 km away — only a few hours, and the historic metropolis is yours to explore.

You can:

  • Take stunning photos with the majestic pyramids and the mysterious Sphinx.
  • Admire the millennia-old city from the viewpoint at Saladin’s Citadel.
  • Discover fascinating artifacts in the newly renovated Egyptian Museum.
  • Bargain for beautiful earrings or lanterns at Khan El-Khalili, one of the oldest markets in the Middle East.
  • Watch the sunset on a serene Nile cruise.

Alexandria. So many great names are linked to this city! Its very founder was Alexander the Great, and the legendary Cleopatra — Egypt’s iconic ruler — is believed to have been born here. Over more than 2,000 years, Alexandria has accumulated a wealth of history and artifacts, making it a treasure trove for explorers.

We recommend starting with:

  • The Bibliotheca Alexandrina — A modern tribute to the legendary ancient library, once the greatest center of knowledge in the ancient world.
  • The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa — A mysterious underground necropolis with Greco-Roman tombs.
  • The Citadel of Qaitbay — A fortress built on the site of the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
  • The Roman Amphitheater — A venue that hosted performances and events during Roman times.
  • Montaza Gardens — A stunning park with a former royal palace, once home to Egypt’s rulers.

Antiphras. In ancient times, this was a thriving port city, and today, it remains one of the best-preserved sites along the Mediterranean coast. Here, you can still see the remains of villas, baths, a theater, a necropolis, a city square, and a basilica—structures that have stood for nearly two thousand years!

Feel Like Part of the Bohemian Scene

The sand dunes surrounding the resort create an incredible contrast with the color of the sea, making the local beaches feel like a secluded paradise. That’s why it’s so easy to forget about worries and the hustle and bustle in El Alamein. Here, everyone is in a great mood, enjoying life and the carefree bohemian atmosphere.

For example:

  • Strolling along the marina promenade, where hundreds of luxurious yachts gracefully sway on the waves.
  • Admiring world-class masterpieces and millennia-old historical artifacts in the galleries and museums of The Heritage City — a cultural district in New Alamein.
  • Winding through the boutiques and restaurants of the modern O-Mall.

You haven't seen Egypt like this, have you? Let this country surprise you once again. Fly to El Alamein with Join UP!™.
